When I read this story I really thought of saving Private Ryan. Even if the scenes didn't match up Indy head that's what I saw when reading. Both were about wars and a adventure. The main guy in the story went through a tough time as did the man in the movie.
We read a short story in ENGL 112 called "The Things They Carried" that reminded me of Red Badge and now that you mentioned it, Private Ryan as well. You might want to track it down. One of the students wrote her literary argument paper based on that short story and tied in Red Badge also.
